GESHER · Upper East Side Bais Medrash
A Bais Medrash for people with day jobs. We don't just teach you Torah - we teach you how to learn it yourself. Nights, mornings, and weekends on the Upper East Side.
You've grown. Maybe you went on a program, spent time in Israel, started taking it more seriously. But somewhere along the way you hit a ceiling: you can sit in a class, but you can't open a text and learn it on your own. That's not your fault - nobody ever taught you how. That's the whole reason Gesher exists.

By the time you're done, you can open almost anything and learn it yourself.
The Bais Medrash is not reserved for scholars. It is open to anyone willing to put in the work.
Jewish professionals who are curious, motivated, and tired of being stuck.
No prior background required, and no judgment about where you're holding.
Whether you've done five programs or none, if you actually want to learn, this is for you.
We run when you're free - early mornings, evenings, and weekends. The curriculum is structured and sequential: it starts with the foundations and builds, step by step, toward independence. Real skills, in the right order.
Learn the core vocabulary and mechanics of the text. We start with the basics of reading and translating, ensuring you have a solid ground to stand on.
Move from translation to comprehension. Develop the analytical tools required to break down complex arguments and follow the logical flow of the sources.
Apply your skills without a net. By this stage, you possess the ability to open a new text, navigate its structure, and learn it entirely on your own.
Open the text and learn it completely on your own.
Work through a page with the foundational tools.
Find your way confidently in the original sources.
Keep growing for the rest of your life, without needing a program to carry you.
Gesher exists because a Jew who can learn never really leaves. The skill outlasts the program - it builds a home and passes to the next generation. That's the whole idea.
Founder and Director. Reuven built Gesher to provide the structural foundation for independent learning, ensuring the texts remain accessible to anyone willing to put in the time.

Want to learn? Curious? Just want to talk it through? Reach out - there's no commitment in a conversation.
